Nominating a default record owner for each site

Default site settings for all Sites assign new records created by Salesforce Sites guest users to a default owner in the org. This setting increases site security by ensuring guest users no longer automatically own the records they create - ownership passes to a nominated user within your organization.

To nominate a default record owner:

  1. Open the Site Edit page:

    • In Salesforce Lightning Experience go to Setup > User Interface > SItes and Domains > Sites
    • In Salesforce Classic go to Setup > App Setup > Develop > Sites

Select the Edit Action for the Site.

  2. For the Default Record Owner field select User Lookup .
  3. Find and select the User you want to act as the record owner for the Site.
  4. Select Save.
